A film noir in black and white. Three chapters. One rule: everything has a price.
The 1950s. Clark Reed is a private detective. One evening, Frank Dalton walks through his door: his wife disappears some nights, and he wants to know where, and with whom.
The case looks simple. It won't stay that way. Tipped off, Linda Dalton sends Joe Turner, her bodyguard, to intimidate the detective.
Bad move: Reed turns the muscle around and brings him to his knees.
So the lady plays her final card. She shows up herself, long gloves and a black dress, her assistant Harold Webb at her side, and leaves him in the detective's capable hands. The price of his silence.
Shot like a crime story, played like a confession. Some cases never get closed.
